I was diagnosed with Stage 2b2 cervical cancer at 69 after 24 years of celibacy and supposedly clear pap smears with no indication of HPV... My last pap smear had been at 65, so I can say with no hesitation, and with experience that both pap smears and HPV testing need to be done at all ages... that is, of course, unless you feel that those over 55 aren't worth the testing.  The after-effects of radiation in those over 60 or so is devastating, but for me, even this continual pain is better than the alternative.
