Recent Diagnoses:( Follicular Lymphoma

6 Weeks go I noticed a swollen lymph node on my neck, I'm not sick, 47yo male, no symptoms to expect cancer, last thing on my mind, I went to my dr the next day, tried 7 days of antibiotics, no change, did ultrasound, 3.2cm lymph node, next a fine needle biopsy, last Wednesday my dr told me, pathology suggest Follicular Lymphoma, I was refereed to Moffitt cancer center, Tampa, FL (1 hour from my home) I should have an appointment being scheduled by my dr. I'm trying to figure out the next step? I'm sure lots of testing and a more involved biopsy is going to be in my near future. I guess the best I can hope for is earliest possible staging.

I am 47 I have follicular Lymphoma I was treated with Rituxibam. 6 or 8 total treatments I was very sick night sweats swollen spleen after my lump in my back was removed thought it was a cyst a biopsy showed it was cancer that is when my symptoms got severe. After treatments, I am doing great its been over 2 years since my last treatment. The last scan showed very little growth in two tumours in my lymph nodes one by my heart one by the stomach . As you will learn it is not curable but very treatable. I have all my hair as treatment was not radiation. I was able to work through treatments with very few days taken off work. They know what they are doing with lymphoma. Good luck. My advice is to eat well a salad a day multivitamins some omega 3 pills and healthy portions of meat and potatoes basically what foods you like do as the doctor recommends as long as they have a good rep and you will be fine.  Your next step will involve blood tests, Ct scan MRI a radioactive type of test it high lights cancer cells as they are far more active than normal cells after they know the stage and other things a  treatment recommendation. Even stage 4 is treatable as this cancer is slow growing.

 

Thank you, Duste I have my first appointment with an oncologist December, 15, labs 1 hour before the dr appointment, maybe they will see some results before visit? I feel ok, I have several nodes on the right side of my neck that are enlarged, not so much visible to everyone, I can look in the mirror and see that side is extended. I really hope I get treatment right away, I've been diagnosed 10 days now and I'm going crazy thinking about it and wanting something to be done to help me.

It is stressful. It was recommended I take Benadryl it is safe. I was told to stop taking ibuprofen just Tylenol for pain. The Benadryl helps with inflammation and calms a person down. Drink water, eat salads. Superfoods for cancer are blueberries, beetroot, green tea and omega 3. Colorful fruits and veggies the pigment helps kill cancer cells. All of that can be done before, during and after treatment.Stay off hard drugs and alcohol you will need your liver in top condition.

Today I did start having pain in my neck where the swollen nodes are, I'm not one big on taking medication, I am drastically changing my diet, I would like to do better, I made more fpgood decision with food than yesterday, I plan on keeping that going. You mentioned hard drugs and alcohol, would medical marijuana be a option that you guys would consider?

I am not a doctor I have researched cannabis it is safe, helps cause apoptosis without causing harm to healthy cells. Try Benadryl. You need to take the drugs the doctor recommends A good oncologist spends a lifetime in the study of cancer they know what helps slow it down and what speeds it up. Many can't recommend cannabis but would if could, being stoned all the time is not an option for many as they must be productive and work so Tylenol and Benadryl are an option for most .

 

I will be trying that combo first;) I also could not be stoned all day but lake evening or bedtime it would be an option.

Hello all, just joined this forum today(3/15/2019), this thread is somewhat old but thought I would chime in.  Very recently diagnosed (after three biopsies) with primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (follicle center type) of my scalp.  (Lumps, nodules visible on my bald scalp.)  Yesterday, I started the first of eighteen radiation treatments to my scalp.
