Hematology

Hi, I just went to my pcp and I’ve had two blood tests with high platelets (554 and 525) and I don’t have all of the results for the first one but the second blood test my RBC’s were also elevated. I have to see a hematologist next Friday and I have no idea what to expect. I was hoping that they could do my blood work before the appointment but they can’t. I think I’m probably just dehydrated or something but it worries me that hematology and oncology are connected and that high platelets can be a sign of cancer. All of my other labs are normal but I’ve also had some physical symptoms recently. If anyone has any advice about hematology appointments or what they might need to do considering my labs I’d really appreciate it. Also if anyone knows why my platelets and RBC’s would be high that would also be very helpful. Thank you! Katie
