My dad is diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer. The doctors have gave him 2-3 months to live. The chemotherapy isn't affecting him. Is there anyone that has or knows of someone that has survived stage 4 bile duct cancer? If yes, then what steps did you take to better your condition.

Hello..I'm Val- my dad was just dianosed with liver bile duct cancer stage 4 in the begining of july, he just turned 74 in August. I can say please don't go by what the doctors are telling you on how long he has because everyone is different., my dads started in the bile duct, there was a blockage, he had a stent put in and drained his liver from all that bile back up for about a week. A port was put in his chest for chemo.. he has gotten about 5-6 chemo treatments so far.He is doing well. He said if he eats he's not so weak. He does get weak and tired but there is medicine for that and it does help. After his 2nd treatment with chemo he was constantly going to the bathroom like 20 times a day.. but now its under control by meds from his doctor. He gets ammune shots to keep his ammune system up. If anyone gets chills or a fever there is an infection somewhere and needs to go to hospital for IV fluids. Remember there ammune system is low so if you or anyone you no is sick keep them away! my dad wears a mask in public so he does't catch anything. My dad is my rock.. he's the only man in my life i will ever trust. he has done more for me then anyone.. sometimes i feel helpless because there is nothing i can do but take it day by day. It's all i can do. I am staying positive until he gets his body scan on October 16th. That is the day we will no if the tumor shrunk or not but until then i will stay positive. Yes i cry, how can you not.. to see this chemo age him in a month is heartbreaking. He lost over 25 lbs already and hair. But when i see him i am my normal happy self. I will not let him see me scared or upset. That will only make it worse fot them. My mom also had lung cancer the same time my dad was diagnosed. she had it 10 years ago and this january of 2018 is when it was noted that her cancer was back. But hers is smoke related and she had some radiation and surgery and is doing great!.. both are patients at Sloan Kettering in NYC, both my parents at the same time with cancer. Me and my sister didn't no who to run to first but we got throug it and you can too! please ask me anything you need anytime!! Best of luck to you and all that is suffering with this nasty disease. It's a silent cancer, you don't even no you have it until you turn yellow.. stay in touch!!
