Hey this is Kathy , my Dad was DX in May 2018 , non operable Bile Duct Cancer - also squamous cell in neck nodes - he had successful surgery to remove a large tumor - we have now been told to ctc Hospice as his numbers are climbing - Dad has had 2 stint surgery’s - 1st one lasted one month , 2nd one July 24th was awesome , we were concerned his doc would say there isn’t anything he could do .. but he placed 2 stints ( a size larger then the previous) .. ohhh my gosh Dad was back !! Within 24 hrs he was un- stoppable — since then we have been hydrated twice a week - that’s amazing how good that makes him feel - as he was winding back down... now it’s Aug 31 2018 - we r still doing hydration- but he keeps getting a fever - we so far - have controlled it with Tylenol - but I fear his stints are clogging - does any of this sound familiar to anyone out there ?? Plz let me know if it does Thanks Kathy

Hi Kathy, i was just reading your blog.. how is everything going? My dad also keeps getting infections and it was a big set back because his cancer went un treated and now his liver has 2 more lesions. Saddly he doesn't have much time left. He found out in July he had stage 4 bile duct & liver cancer. He did chemo but the chemo killed all good and bad cells and his ammune system was so low he just kept getting infections. Cholangiocarcinoma is a very rapid and agressive cancer. :( Let me know how you are doing

Hi Kathy,  The stents do need to be cleaned out or replaced every few months. My dad had his done twice already. But the infections he keeps getting are very bad, E coli, c-diff, sepsis, fungial in the blood... and so on. When he gets an infection it usually takes weeks to clear up once he is off antibiotics the infections come back within days up to a week. Well 2 different doctors gave my dad about a month left to live. I am devasted. he lost so much weight and it's like in a few months he has aged 20 years. He's so frail, it's terrible :(
