Lymphoma?

Hi. Newbie here. Been sick for a few months. Pretty much throat upper arms and chest and between shoulder blades pain also into ears sometimes. Feels like swollen lymph nodes. But none found. Been going to doctors for weeks. Had a chest X-ray. Lotta blood work and ultra sound of my neck and nothing shows up. Went to ent and he found some reflux and sinus drip. But nothing else. My issue is major fatigue. And the pain will not go away. Or should I say stay away. Some times it’s my throat that hurts a lot or it could be pain in under arm or in my way upper back right side. But the fatigue is the worst. Feel like barely paying attention. Nothing found on any test yet. The pains are weird. Not horrible just nagging. Lymphoma is my concern. I’m 47 years old male and I’m just tired of never feeling well. Thinking of asking for a cat scan and more blood work. What is it?? Or what can it be??thx

Most often such symptoms indicate something other than lymphoma. You are doing well letting the doctors examine you thoroughly. Go on with that until they find out what your problem is. A cat scan can be part of these investigations.

Even if it is lymphoma there is good hope. I had it in my brain in 2012 at the age of 68. I got the toughest treatment including autologous stem cell transplant. After that I was weak for months, but since more than 5 years I am healthy and quite fit again, with only a slight numbness of my feet (neuropathy) as the remaining very small problem.

Hi. I’m glad you doing well. ????. I just wish I knew what it was. Had 3 xrays done today of neck and chest. And blood work. Found nothing. Pain still in throat and under one arm and then switches to other arm. Crazy. Upper back pain way up. Won’t go away. Who knows.

Sorry to hear you have been under the cosh healthwise.  To my understanding the surest way to diagnose non-hodgkin lymphoma is through a bon marrow biopsy - they are pretty unpleasant but not as bad as you might think.  That said they would usually do that to confirm suspicions raised through analysis of your blood film.  Do you have the results of your blood tests?  Do they show any metrics that are outside of normal range?  Lymphoma is more commonly associated with an older age bracket, but I was diagnosed with a 50% bone marrow burden at 40yo so it can happen much younger than the mean or median age.  Be well.

Well I have no abnormal blood work. Pain is only symptom. Pain in neck and under arms. No raised nodes. Just pAin. Chest X-ray was clean. Had ultrasound of neck that was clean. And a ct of chest and that was clean. But pain moves around to arms to elbow to neck. It’s silly. Don’t know what it is.

Pain is never silly chap, it is the body's way of telling you something is wrong.  In the absence of abnormal blood work it may (note: 'may') not be lymphoma.  What kind of work do you do - both commercial and domestic?  In the absence of RSI from deskwork or strain from physical work one thing you might look at is neuropathy, which can be caused by lymphoma but also from a lot of other things as well.  (Please note that I am not a clinician of any sort, just a guy with lymphoma who sells science).  Be well.
