NED is my friend

Greetings my friends unmet;

According to the blood work of 5 May and CT scan of 12 May, as intepreted by my oncologist on 19 May, I am clear of evidence of recurrence or metastasis.

2 June made 5 years since a pylorus preserving Whipple procedure, which lasted almost 9 hours, was performed by Dr H Richard Alexander and his team at the Uni MD Med Center in Baltimore.

I had been diagnosed with a Stage IB adenocarcinoma that was well defined and confined to the head of the pancreas surrounding, but not infiltrating, the bile duct.

In the pathology report of 19 June, Dr Alexander told me the tumor had grown to Stage IIB, but all margins were negative with no other tissue involved. 4 of 29 nodes were suspect, but not confirmed.

I had chemo, Zophran and Gemzar via IV drip, from mid-Jult to Mid-December following the surgery. The side effects were mild flu like symptoms and fatigue.

Lost over 50 pounds, gained it all back.

5 years later, am eating substantially the same foods as I did before the illness and treatment.

From reading other accounts, I have been very, very fortunate from diagnosis through healing.

Take care - Steven

I'm so happy for you! It is always encouraging for others starting their cancer journey to see there is hope. For me it's  9 years !  For me,  i knew I couldn't do this journey by myself, so I asked God to come with me. I would do my part and trust him to do the rest! I certainly have learned alot from this journey and today I thank God for turning the impossible into possible!!

 Blessings as you continue on !

I’m into my 12th year now. Attitude and focused research means a world of difference in survival. I spent an incredible amount of time researching about cancer and what is available in nature that works against it. It’s a journey of discovery and perseverance to say the least.
