help..my dad is dieing

My father was diagnosed with gall bladder cancer a year ago, and after surgery and removal of his gall bladder, part of his liver and his lymph notes, he was told that he was clear and cured of cancer.  A year later he was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer after a scheduled CT scan.  Now they are telling him that regardless of whether he does chemotherapy treatment or not, he has less than a year left to live.  IPHC surgery was brought to my attention from a nurse who said that if done properly and effectively can prolong my fathers life for up to five years.  But we are having trouble finding a surgeon who will perform the interperitoneal hyperthermic surgery (IPHC).  Does anyone know of any doctors who perform his anywhere in america? Has anyone gone through the same thing or know someone who has? I would really appreciate someone who can tell me anything to raise my hopes or give me any new ideas of sources to reach out too.  Please respond! Thank you!

Sarah

I don't have the answer you need. What I do have is hope. This is a very supportive community and I am convinced that someone will be able to help. Seeing that you've yet to receive a response led me to writing to you. Hang in there. That's what we caregivers do. It's the very least we can do. Be strong.

when my father was diagnosed with brain cancer i called hospitals and spoke directly to doctors. i found out new treatments. start calling hospitals and cancer society places. do research, a lot of it. thats all that you can do. talk with doctors that are in different states. i even told them i was a medical student and i was doing a paper on glioblastoma brain tumors. try something like that. and they will give you so much info. hope this helps

There is some information regarding IPHC on Irena's profile.

Do a search for Irena. Then open Irena's profile under Related Profiles. Under profile actions select "see all message board posts by Irena" scroll down to DIFFERENT TYPE OF TREATMENT.  You also might be interested in checking information on cancertutor.com for alternative treatments.

Hope this helps you and your father.
