Sorry for my ignorance on the IU front, a second Google search pointed me to a school in indiana (as opposed to my first search which resulted in all IUP results).  Still the closest I know for you is Pittsburgh, but there are great specialists in NYC and MD as well.

Indiana University as in IUP?  There's a great GCC specialist in Pittsburgh called Dr. Bartlett who can do the surgery and follow up care. Regarding right hemi vs HIPEC, not every hospital can/will do HIPEC, but I know Bartlett has done it many times.  If it looks like low grade, etc (a GOOD thing) they often won't push HIPEC.  In my case I was borderline as with a T3 tumor you don't necessarily know ...

I totally understand and can share in your frustration with not having many details available (although, depending on specifically what you have, I've found some decent materials GCC by looking at NIH and others).  I assume you're looking at a right hemicolectomy, and a potential HIPEC.  I did both (together), and I had some complications, which made it an unpleasant span of 3 months.  That said, looki...

I didn't have signet cell but I did have HIPEC.  I can say that recovery depends largely on the amount of cytoreduction that needs to be done.  In my case it was probably considered middle of the road as far as amount of organs/tissue removed and I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks, but returned through the ER 4 times afterwards for 3-4 days each return.  From what I can tell, returning through...

Hey elshu, I don't know all of the details about your treatment, but I would just caution you to make sure that you leave plenty of time between your chemo and HIPEC.   My situation was a bit different than yours, because I had most of my procedures at all once and still had an open wound from my HIPEC by the time I started chemo, but the chemo dramatically slowed my healing process.   I'm not trying to ...

Hey there, I'm another GCC case, pT3N0, did appendectomy, right hemicolectomy, HIPEC, modified FOLFOX6 for 6 months.  Now I'm 6 months NED and just monitoring with CTs and MRIs.  My surgeon Dr. Bartlett has been awesome, if anyone has any questions about my experience let me know

I'm sorry to hear that.  I also have been diagnosed with an appendix cancer, and a close friend of mine passed away from it a couple of years ago as well.  I agree, cancer sucks.

I had HIPEC, feel free to ask any questions here or in PM.  I've had some medium term effects (still lingering about one year out) of back pain which they think is referred from my diaphragm.  In all I spent 28 days in the hospital, 12 of those via 3 ER visits because of bowl obstructions post surgery (also had a right hemicolectomy).  At the end of the day I'm very happy I did it, even though my case ...
