  I am posting to give HOPE to all suffering from EC.  I had last posted before my husbands esophagectomy on 3/10/16.   Here is his success story...in brief: 12/2014 diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer with lymph node involvement...1-1/2 to 2 years to live Jan/2015 started FOLFOX every two weeks...after 11 treatments stopped due to neuropathy throughout year CT and PET scans all stable...no new grow...

  My goodness how shocking!  Please know you are in my thoughts.  My husband, age 53, just had Ivor Lewis surgery on 3/10/16.  We are told the same as your husband...good results.  I cannot imagine the heartache you are feeling right now after this happened.  I am so sorry for your loss.

  Bond007....good to hear your good news of ct results! My husband was also told EOX would be comparable to FOLFOX.  He was told this by two other oncologists when we sough other opinions when first diagnosed.  If tumors are shrinking, then the chemo he is on is working...that's what they want.  Hey whatever works!   CONGRATULATIONS LEFTY!  You sound like a real fighter...and it worked!  Very sad that both you and your dad had this horrible cancer...damn cancer! My husband will be a fighter as well, I'm sure of it!  The surgeon said the same as your nurse...could come back...could be a little floater in there somewhere...after all this work having chemo for over a year....Get it out for Pete's sake!

  If he can eat the chemo is working...thae chemo is shirinking his tumor. As long as it is stable or shrinking they will continue with that regimine.

  Good luck with the ct scan!  My very best wishes to you.  We do not know anything about the trial.  But Tom was not going into any trial for dosage research...only for cure research.  FOLFOX, we have been told has been around for 50 years..not sure about FOLFIRI but FOLFIRI is usually a second-line treatment.  FOLFOX has more side effects also.  Tom started to have periodic pain right un...

  Tom was diagnosed at 51 years old.  We live in Pittsburgh, PA where we have wonderful hospitals.  When originally told stage iv, Tom's doctor got the ball rolling to enter him in a trial when the chemo treatments stop working.  He would have had to go to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD for that....but not needed!  My husband is in very good health...he has lost weight, he is a small person5'4", 146...

  Success story…so far!  My husband, Tom,  was diagnosed Dec 2014 stage iv.  He went for two additional opinions, all three opinions were the same…no cure, 1-1/2 to 2 years, chemo will stop working.  Diagnosis was adenocarcinoma at ge junction, diaphragm and lymph nodes along aorta from top of esophagus to tops of thighs.  Initially was told radiation would target the ge junction,...
